IODP Job Opportunity: Assistant Research Scientist

The International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) at Texas A&M University invites applications for an Assistant Research Scientist (Expedition Project Manager/Staff Scientist) in the Science Operations section. Applications in any field of geoscience pertinent to IODP will be considered although preference will be given to those with expertise that fits well with our current group.

CALL: Expedition 385: Guaymas Basin Tectonics and Biosphere

ECORD is seeking scientists to participate in JOIDES Resolution Expedition 385: Guaymas Basin Tectonics and Biosphere (19 September to 19 November 2019). Opportunities exist for researchers (including graduate students) in all shipboard specialties - including but not limited to sedimentologists, micro paleontologists, paleomagnetists, inorganic/organic geochemists, petrologists, petrophysicists, microbiologists, and borehole geophysicists.

SPECIAL CALL: Biostratigrapher for Expedition 379

ECORD is seeking a biostratigrapher, with a particular focus in radiolaria of the Antarctic region or Southern Ocean, to participate in JOIDES Resolution Expedition 379: Amundsen Sea West Antarctic Ice Sheet History (18 January - 20 March 2019).

CALL: Expedition 383 (Plio-Pleistocene Dynamics of the Pacific ACC)

ECORD is seeking scientists to participate in JOIDES Resolution Expedition 383: Plio-Pleistocene Dynamics of the Pacific Antarctic Circumpolar Current (~20 May to ~20 July 2019). Opportunities exist for researchers (including graduate students) in all shipboard specialties - including but not limited to sedimentologists, micro paleontologists, paleomagnetists, inorganic/organic geochemists, petrologists, petrophysicists, microbiologists, and borehole geophysicists.

CALL: Science Evaluation Panel (SEP) Members

ESSAC is seeking experts in the field of marine geology and/or geophysics to participate in the Science Sub-Group of the Science Evaluation Panel (SEP). 3 member positions are available. Qualified scientists from all ECORD Member Countries are encouraged to apply. Applications from female scientists are especially welcome.

CALL: ESSAC Science Coordinator

The ESSAC Office at the University of Plymouth (UK) is seeking the next ESSAC Science Coordinator. The position is full-time (37 hours/week), for a fixed two year-term beginning January 2018. The salary is £33,518 to £47,722 pa – Grade 7/8.

Expedition 377 Cancellation

The ECORD Science Operator (ESO) regrettably announces that Expedition 377 (Arctic Ocean Paleoceanography) has been cancelled, and the current staffing exercise has been halted.
