Apply to Sail

Participation in IODP expeditions is open to scientists, engineers, professors, research scientists, technologists, and graduate students from all IODP member countries. Each IODP expedition includes a staff of up to 30 participants from the member countries.

Interested Canadians should apply directly to the ESSAC Office by completing the application procedures and forms available on the ESSAC website.

Resources for Applicants:

Want to know what it's like to sail with IODP?  Click here for an article by Natalie Dubois, PhD graduate from Dalhousie University, who sailed on Expedition 329 (South Pacific Gyre Microbiology).

IMPORTANT: Canadian-based applicants must be NSERC-funded active researchers, or students/fellows working under the direct supervision of such researchers.  Candidates must send their application to the IODP-Canada Office (iodpcanada@gmail.com) at least 1 week before the deadline (before submission to ECORD) for internal review by the CCOD Executive Committee.

Applicants wishing to receive comments and recommendations on their application (letter of interest, CV and application form) can request feedback from the CCOD Coordinator.

Please contact the ESSAC Office for questions related to the application process or for more information on ECORD participation in IODP expeditions.
