{"id":364,"date":"2022-09-23T14:10:05","date_gmt":"2022-09-23T17:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.esd.mun.ca\/wordpress\/iodpcanada\/?page_id=364"},"modified":"2022-09-28T15:25:25","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T18:55:25","slug":"ecord-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"\/wordpress\/iodpcanada\/index.php\/ecord-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ECORD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ECORD<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esd.mun.ca\/wordpress\/iodpcanada\/images\/ecord-logo-def.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"ECORD-logo-def.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD)<\/strong> was formally established in January 2002 through a concerted action of the European scientific community together with funding agencies to provide a single European-based entity in IODP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Membership in ECORD is available to European (EU and non-EU) governmental and\/or national agencies (or their representatives). Organisations from non-European countries may be invited to join the Consortium upon request. The Consortium is composed of 17 members: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each ECORD member country is represented by one delegate on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/c\/council.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECORD Council<\/a>. The participation of ECORD members in IODP is managed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/ema.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECORD Managing Agency (EMA).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Implementing Organisation in Europe is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/about-ecord\/management-structure\/eso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECORD Science Operator (ESO)<\/a>, which is the operational entity responsible for <strong>mission-specific platform (MSP)<\/strong> expeditions.&nbsp; The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/about-ecord\/management-structure\/efb\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECORD Facility Board (EFB)<\/a> is the planning forum for MSP expeditions and is responsible for scheduling drilling proposals and for advising on a long-term planning of ECORD\u2019s expeditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecord.org\/about-ecord\/management-structure\/essac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ECORD Science Support and Advisory Committee (ESSAC)<\/a> is the science committee of ECORD and is responsible for the scientific planning and coordination of ECORD\u2019s contribution to IODP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Follow ECORD on Twitter and Facebook!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esd.mun.ca\/wordpress\/iodpcanada\/images\/twitter.jpeg\" alt=\"twitter_newbird_blue.jpg\" width=\"56\" height=\"39\" title=\"twitter_newbird_blue.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.esd.mun.ca\/wordpress\/iodpcanada\/images\/facebook.png\" alt=\"fb_icon_325x325.png\" width=\"52\" height=\"52\" title=\"fb_icon_325x325.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ECORD_Outreach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/essac.ecord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ECORD The European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling (ECORD) was formally established in January 2002 through a concerted action of the European scientific community together with funding agencies to provide a single European-based entity in IODP.
